Electrolysis

Purification by electrolysis

Electrolysis consists of generating chemical reactions by electrical activation. The process of transforming the electrical energy into chemical energy is highly efficient in the separation of materials.

The electrolysis is used in multiple industrial processes to achieve:

The coagulation / flocculation of colloidal particles without the addition of chemical products, by the use of soluble electrodes;
The elimination of particles that are accumulated on the surface of the electrode, by the addition of non-soluble electrodes

Application fields of purification by electrolysis

The purification technology by electrolysis is therefore largely applied in the treatment of liquids containing metallic components without the use of adsorptive resins or charcoal, liquids containing colloids without the use of chemical products, etc.

The electrolysis allows the physical-chemical treatment of industrial effluents and complies with discharge guidelines and regulations for environmental protection.

The advantages of purification by electrolysis

SIVA has chosen to offer this technology since flocs formed by electrolysis are more compact than those formed by mechanical agitation or the addition of chemicals, generating significantly less volume of waste than chemical coagulation-flocculation processes.

This technology also presents the advantages of requiring minimal maintenance, limited operator intervention and low energy consumption.
